What Do We Call This?

It's update time again. This time we're going to talk about what to call Fading Hearts. It's definately going to be a challenge since the common ones aren't good for expanding a market.

We'll take a look at the terms following the break. Hopefully it would help give a feeling of the game plays.

  • Visual Novel: Fading Hearts has stat-building so some people who know the difference would not want that. Also it's confusing for anyone who is new.
  • Dating-Sim: Since there is stat building many would consider it a dating-sim. Then there is the issue of the stigma attached to dating-sim. There's a deeper story to it so calling it a dating-sim wouldn't do it justice.
  • Adventure Game: It might fit for the Japanese market but it would be confusing to the western market I believe. They would think of point-and-click adventures which has all of it's own tropes as well.
  • Ren'ai/Gal Game: It's getting closer now but still not quite there yet. These terms would work for the existing market but not for expanding it. I believe calling it a "Girl Game" to a new male market would have the guys running away to protect their masculinity. Not quite what we want.
  • Romantic Interactive Story: This describes Fading Hearts well except for the actual gameplay we are putting in.
Looking at all of these we'll probably be using Ren'ai Game for the markets that already exist and Romantic Interactive Story for the new market.

If you want to talk about it then post comments on the forum.

IGW Free DLC in Production and Next Game in Planning

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the free DLC for Infinite Game Works is in production now. Also the next project(s) is in the planning stages. They would be IGW Episode 1 and Don't Save the World: An RPG.

More info at a later date! We're still alive though.

Game Events Adventures: Episode 2 ~ December Toronto Anime Convention 2011

Welcome to the second episode of Game Events Adventures! This time I headed to the December Toronto Anime Convention to sell hard copies of our game! No electricity this time but man it was packed in the small room.

This time I used the almost one-man-exhibit kit where I held 2 boxes in my arms, a backpack, 2 foam boards, a tripod (shoulder strap carrying), and art tube (with shoulder strap).

Starting to think that maybe I shouldn't spend so much on electricity at these. Though I'm starting to see a little saturation in the market so far but not too bad. I really got to finish up the IGW additional content patch and start the next project.

Game Events Adventures: Episode 1 ~ DIG London 2011

I seem to have a lot of crazy adventures attending game conferences and anime conventions. So I decided to try and write about it in order to inspire/scare others to do the same by giving a taste of what it's like... at least with me anyways. I should write a book about it.

I'm heading to DIG London! This is in hopes to meet some publishers and pitch my game concepts to them.

Mindless details after the break.
