Game Events Adventures: Episode 1 ~ DIG London 2011

E-mail Print PDF

I seem to have a lot of crazy adventures attending game conferences and anime conventions. So I decided to try and write about it in order to inspire/scare others to do the same by giving a taste of what it's like... at least with me anyways. I should write a book about it.

I'm heading to DIG London! This is in hopes to meet some publishers and pitch my game concepts to them.

Mindless details after the break.

So in order to save money and lose a bit of health and sanity I decided to take the 1 am bus to London and wait until opening outside. It was COLD!!! Well actually I'm waiting until the coffee shops open. This is currently where I'm writing this dev blog. First event starts at 9 am so I'm waiting until then.

This reminds me of going to a nightclub in Japan every Saturday blowing about $50 and going home on the first train.

Just did a little bit of investigation with the ren'py screen language and learned something new while drinking a bit of coffee.

Then it hit me.

I was saying the same things several years ago when I launched my first game

Breaking the "Choose Your Own Adventure" Standard of Making Choices

So when Fading Hearts was reviewed by Inside AX and they said Fading Hearts '[...]takes “choose your own adventure” to a whole other level.' I was very happy! Then I thought about other games that does this well. I'm taking about subverting whole multiple-choice-test style of making choices in video games.

Then I remembered one really good one. That would be Corpse Party!

Explanation of why after the break!

Change in Plans for the Future

In this dev blog entry I believe it's time to at least give an update to what's going on.

After reflecting a lot on what's happening and what I've been wanting to do I've come to a decision. The RPG project that I have been talking about before will begin production in a month and will be our next game to be release. The RPG project may take a few years to come out. This implies that IGW Ep. 1 will be delayed for a very long time.

We will be perusing our story-as-gameplay features that made Fading Hearts such a new experience.

More details after the break.
